FlashAttention-3 achieves up to 75% GPU utilization on H100s, making AI models up to 2x faster and enabling efficient processing of longer text inputs. It allows for faster training and inference of LLMs, supports lower precision operations for improved efficiency.
Now that the CoreCLR is open-source we can do fun things, for instance find out if it’s possible to add new IL (Intermediate Language) instruction to the runtime.
On UNIX-like operating systems, userland processes invoke kernel procedures using the "syscall" feature. Each syscall is identified by a "syscall number" and has a short list of parameters, which both can vary between operating systems, hardware platforms, and configuration options.

Update Dec 20, 2012 : Apple appears to have fixed this in a way by adding a “Keep changes in original document” checkbox in the save dialog. Bandaids are better than nothing. It is also possible to add a keyboard shortcut for Save As, which is partially hidden (option key).
Everyone already knows that SQLite is great. This article makes the praise much more specific though — it explains why we, the developers of libSQL, think that SQLite is a great choice for bringing your data to the edge.

This is an introduction to data structure flattening, a special case of arena allocation that is a good fit for programming language implementations. We build a simple interpreter twice, the normal way and the flat way, and show that some fairly mechanical code changes can give you a 2.4× speedup.
Ever since I got AMD, Intel, and Nvidia graphics cards to run on a Raspberry Pi, I had a nagging question: What's the point? The Raspberry Pi only has 1 lane of PCIe Gen 3 bandwidth available for a connection to an eGPU. That's not much. Especially considering a modern desktop has at least one slot with 16 lanes of…

It is time to celebrate EC2-Classic, which defined early cloud computing, and which is finally retiring.
My last post on the Rust compiler’s performance was two months ago and a lot has happened since then.
Sourcing data directly from disk IS faster than caching in memory. I brought receipts. Because hardware got wider but not faster, the old methods don't get you there. You need new tools to use what is scaling and avoid what isn't.

This is an introductory overview post for the Linux Graphics Stack, and how it currently all fits together. I initially wrote it for myself after having conversations with people like Owen Taylor, Ray Strode and Adam Jackson about this stack. I had to go back to them every month or so and learn the stuff from the…
