Working on databases from prison
How Preston Thorpe went from a prison cell and a college program to a full-time database engineering role at Turso, working on the SQLite rewrite in Rust.
Turso is the SQLite-based database architecture for millions of databases. Spin up a database for every user, agent, and tenant, with embedded replication, per-database encryption, and economics that scale with you.

we forked SQLite with the libSQL project. What would it be like if we just rewrote it?
For almost a year now, Turso has had a program that pays $1,000 for any bug that can be demonstrated to lead to data corruption. Today, we are retiring this program.
Turso Offline Sync is now in public beta. Write to local SQLite databases offline at file speed, then sync push and pull with Turso Cloud when reconnected.
Turso is becoming the LLVM of databases: one modern, reliable Rust core with many SQL frontends. After rewriting SQLite, we are now building Postgres.
