Facebook is scaring me
Yesterday I wrote that Twitter should be scared of Facebook. Today it's worse. I, as a mere user of Facebook, am seriously scared of them.
Dave Winer, OG blogger, podcaster, developed first apps in many categories. Old enough to know better. It's even worse than it appears.

The wonder of the web is that it is not subject to the whims of chaotic corporate management.
People who don't know me , and what I've spent my career doing, will think I'm some kind of Luddite, but of course I'm anything but that.
Over the weekend there was a bit of hoo-hah about accounts swept off Google-Plus, because they didn't have the users' real name.
Last night I posted a tweet: "Next time you want to post an essay to Medium, do the open web a favor and post it elsewhere. Anywhere. Tumblr. WordPress.com." If I had more space I would have added Pastebin or Blogger. Really anywhere but Medium. I didn't have room to explain, but people asked, so here's…
I love Hacker News , and appreciate that they have a feed for the stories that make it to the front page. But I want more. I want to get a stream of stories, as they are submitted. For that I'd need a feed that they don't have.
By ageism, I mean people saying that my age makes me less intelligent, informed, clued, aware, whatever. It's never rational, not part of an intelligent discussion. I can't probe the people to find out what they mean. I assume they're expressing some frustration and projecting it on me.

Joe Lieberman calls Amazon to say they should cut them off. Amazon cuts them off, then says the Lieberman call had nothing to do with it. We have no reason to doubt Amazon. It's consistent with their philosophy of not taking sides in political battles. Still I wish Amazon, who I'm a big fan of, had stood with them…
One of my favorite blogsports for the last couple of years is pondering what Twitter is. Here are some of the things I've come up with:
I wouldn't invest in or develop an iPhone app because Apple could decide not to approve it, and if they don't approve it you can't sell it. You can't even give it away. You don't find out if you've been approved until the last step, after you've fully invested, so you could lose, totally, if Apple says no.
