Building durable workflows on Postgres
Explaining the concept of a Postgres-backed durable execution system like DBOS and comparing it to external workflow orchestration systems like Temporal.
3
Postgres transactions are a distributed systems superpower
Keeping workflow state and application data in the same Postgres database lets one transaction update both, simplifying idempotency and atomicity.

Does Postgres Scale?
Benchmarking the workflow execution and workflow queueing scalability of a single Postgres server.
5
Build durable workflows with Postgres
In this blog post, we’ll dive deep into why we chose to build DBOS durable workflow execution on the PostgreSQL DBMS.
6
Making Postgres queues scale
Lessons learned from scaling Postgres-backed durable queues for users running tens of billions of workflows per month.
7
I solved a distributed queue problem after 15 years
Learn how queues make horizontal scaling, scheduling, and flow control easier in cloud systems, and how to make them durable and observable.

Postgres SELECT DISTINCT Does Not Scale
Postgres SELECT DISTINCT performs surprisingly poorly. We explain why and how we mitigated it.
